It seems that I am always in London these days.
Last week I spent another few days in London arranging things for our wedding this summer and catching up with friends.
I did manage to sneak in a visit to the Royal College of Art's 'Great Exhibition' - their 2007 graduation show.
I love graduation shows - it's a rare chance for people to be creative without social or economic restraint, something that they don't always get the chance to do again in their lives. Once you've graduated you have to consider making a living and more often than not, it changes the nature of your work.
This year, apart from my general curiosity, I was there to research potential for my new project (if I ever get it off the ground!!).
Several things caught my eye;
Above left - Simon Cunningham's "Mollymuddle" - frankly a little disturbing and touching at the same time
Above right - Simon Cunningham's "Duckrabbit" - I have no idea what it was about..
Gemma Holt's jewellery made from pencils and the flooring made of rulers.
Senu Gu's lemon squeezer and "Cactus" jug
Rebecca Harvey's gorgeous glass-handled teapots and jugs
Stephen Johnson's crazy and slightly scary brass figurines
Jessica Nebel's ingeniously simple "Fly In" bird table
Katy West's vitrified china "shelf bracket" shelf (I want one for my bathroom!!)
Joe Nunn's beautifully simple "Imura" table
Tim Stolzenburg's no nonsense "Bracket" chair and "Loop" table
Greetje Van Helmond's ethereal sugar jewellery
Liz Collini's beautiful "Words and Action" silkscreen prints (if I found an envelope full of money tomorrow I'd buy one)
The show is on until the 28th June and it's free!
